A few months ago I was having a great time eating my way around street food stalls in Asia for very little money. But since coming home I’ve been in a lunch rut and begrudgingly paying London prices for some pretty mediocre meals.
Thank you universe for Monty’s Deli. I never ate at any of their market stalls, but as their new location was only five minutes from work, I popped in to try some food.
I love turkey sandwiches. Whether it’s on white slices with margarine from my bland food youth, or something fancier since introducing flavour into my adult life. So the generous slices of smoked turkey sandwich with coleslaw and chrain went down well with me. Another day I was feeling a bit rubbish and tried the chicken soup with a soft, chewy sesame bagel on the side. Again—wonderful.
My lunches might not be under £1 anymore, but at least from Monty’s Deli, it will be delicious.
