I used to live a 25 minute drive from the Peak District when I was little but only visited once. After I’d already moved to London. These days I’m stuck indoors quite a lot, but lucky to have a friend who organised a small group of us to go weekend camping.

We stayed at Rowter Farm – a chilled out campsite in Castleton with all the basic facilities. It costs £5 per person to stay and is dog friendly. The farm shop rents out fire pits which I recommend you hire on arrival otherwise, you’ll miss out like us. Rowter Farm is also a great location to hike along the Mam Tor circular walk. The route leads you towards the summit which has fantastic views of the Peak District.
